PLATINUM TANKS RESERVE FOOTBALL LEAGUE DIVISION 2B FINAL.
Eire Og 2-9, Corduff 1-11.
A cracking goal in stoppage time by Christopher Gorman saw Eire Og snatch a late dramatic victory in this hugely entertaining and at times hard hitting contest that was played in breezy and somewhat chilly conditions in Blackhill on Saturday afternoon last, to make up for defeat in the same final last year.
This was literally a game of two halves, Eire Og dominating the exchanges and the scoring in the 1st half to lead by 9 points at half-time but Corduff turning things around in the second-half, to gradually erode that advantage to the extent that they levelled the game with 3 minutes of normal time remaining, having held Eire Og scoreless, and then plundered a goal to take the lead for the 1st time going into stoppage time.
Eire Og to their credit, refused to capitulate and pulled back a point, their 1st score of the second-half and then struck late and decisively when a good passing movement saw the ball worked to Christopher Gorman and he sent a piledriver to the bottom left-hand corner of the Corduff net to seal victory.
Unfortunately there then followed an incident involving a number of players from both sides, the result of which saw Corduff finish the game with 13 players following the dismissal of Gerard Connolly and goalkeeper Eamon Marron on straight red cards. Corduff then had a chance to equalise but their free effort dropped short.
