Greenfield Foods Senior Football Championship Round 3B
Magheracloone 0-10 Castleblayney 0-9 14/9/18
Magheracloone booked their place in the SFC semi-finals with a second one-point win inside a week against Castleblayney in Inniskeen on Friday night. Six days after winning a similarly low-scoring derby against Carrickmacross, Magheracloone just held on to oust Blayney. The Mitchells were 0-4 to 0-3 up at the end of a first half that saw Blayney fail to take a few goal chances and although Martin McElroy and Dermot Malone hit seven points between them, the Faughs were left to rue those near misses. Alan McCahey hit 0-6 for Magheracloone and with Paudie McMahon landing a crucial point late on, last year’s beaten finalists advanced to the last four for the third consecutive year.
