McElvaney Waste & Recycling Intermediate Football Championship Round 3B
Doohamlet 1-21 Corduff 2-16 (AET)
Doohamlet set up a rematch with Donaghmoyne in the IFC semi-finals when they just edged past Corduff in the first of two thrilling qualifiers to go to extra-time in Inniskeen last Saturday. Doohamlet saw an eight-point lead disappear in the last 20 minutes of the hour after a strong finish by Corduff, who had been reduced to 14 men towards the end of the first half, saw them draw level.
The IFL leaders eventually progressed, however, with Barry McBennett and Barry McGinn hitting 14 points between them and Colin and Jamie Walshe adding 1-3. Current IFC top scorer Fergal Hanratty landed 0-13 (all but one from frees) for Corduff to take his championship tally to 2-29, but despite goals from Michael Connolly and sub Jason Hand, they just didn’t have enough scoring threats.

Tyholland 3-19 Killanny 1-24 (AET)
Tyholland completed the IFC semi-final line-up when they just emerged from an epic Round 3B tie against Killanny that went the full distance in Inniskeen. It took two bouts of extra-time to separate the sides in a pulsating encounter that almost became the first to be decided by a free-taking contest.
Goals from Ryan McKenna, Shane Treanor and Joe O’Boyle proved crucial for Tyholland, who were also thankful for the tireless running of Karl O’Connell, whose long-range point at the end of normal time rescued his side. Killanny finished just on the wrong side of the result, despite Eddie Walsh leading their ten scorers with 13 points and Dean Connolly impressing at midfield.
Tyholland will face Seán McDermotts in the semi-finals on October 6.
