MC ELVANEY’S WASTE & RECYCLING INTERMEDIATE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.
Doohamlet 2-12 Aughnamullen 0-12.
A stronger, more economical Doohamlet got their championship aspirations back on track with this deserved 6 points victory over Aughnamullen in what was overall a fairly low-key encounter, but still a game that produced some good passages open play and a few excellent scores, in Castleblayney on Saturday evening last.
At the end of a low scoring 1st half where defences dominated, Doohamlet led by 2 points and 6 minutes into the 2nd half a goal helped them establish an increasing foothold. That goal separated the sides at the end of the 3rd quarter but any chance of an Aughnamullen comeback was killed off when Doohamlet scored a 2nd goal, and while Aughnamullen kept in touch with a couple of points in the latter stages they never looked like closing the gap and Doohamlet were well worth their 6 points winning margin.
