Scotstown, Rockcorry and Clones stay in JFC

Scotstown got back to winning ways in the JFC in this knock-out clash with Drumhowan in Emyvale last Friday night. Just five days after falling to a heavy defeat against Cremartin, a Scotstown team showing six changes bounced back, helped by goals in either half from Jason Carey and James Corley. A burst of 1-4 without reply in the latter stages of the first half handed Scotstown a 1-8 to 0-8 interval lead that they maintained through to the end. Scotstown advance to a Round 1B tie against Oram in Cloghan this Saturday night.

Rockcorry knocked near-neighbours Aghabog out of the JFC with a last-minute win in Threemilehouse last Sunday. Aghabog led for almost all of this game, helped by goals from Ciarán Logue and Tyler O’Hanlon, only to be see their seven-point lead evaporate, with Dwayne Rooney firing home the winning goal in added time to complete Rockcorry’s comeback. Rock will face Clones in Round 2B on Friday night.

Rock’s next opponents Clones cruised to an easy win over Corduff in this one-sided qualifier also played in Threemilehouse last Sunday. James Mealiff top-scored with 1-6 for Clones, who also saw Cian O’Connor, Cameron Dowd, Darren Freeman and Rián Kearns find the net.
