Oram Cruise Past Truagh

By Mary McEneaney Sat 25th Aug

 UNIVERSAL GRAPHICS JUNIOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Oram 2-22, Truagh 0-5.

In the end Oram won comfortably to get their championship aspirations back on track but they will know they will have to improve on their wastefulness that saw them hit 17 wides in all, 10 in the 1st half, if they are to progress, while for a gallant Truagh, it is the end of the championship road. To be fair though, Truagh were not outplayed to the extent that the final score line might suggest as they competed well in the possession stakes but just simply lacked the finishing power with Gary Todd, registering all of their 5 points, 3 from frees. Oram led at half-time by 1-12 to 0-2, those 2 points, giving Truagh the lead in the opening 11 minutes as Oram registered 7 wides and were denied a goal by the crossbar before they got off the mark in the 12th minute. In the second-half Oram continued to pile on the points with a 2nd goal by John Mone turning proceedings into a procession and while Truagh battled gallantly to the end it was against a long lost cause.
