UNDER 21 DIVISION 1 FINAL.

Carrickmacross 3-12, Inniskeen 0-14.

The predatory instincts and clinical finishing of Stephen O’Hanlon was a key feature in Carrickmacross clinching the under 21 division 1 title at the expense of Inniskeen in this entertaining and well contested final that built into a riveting contest in the second-half in Corduff on Friday evening last. O’Hanlon finished with 2-11 to his credit, one of his goals from a penalty and 4 of his points coming from frees, but it was also his contribution in stringing the Carrickmacross attack together that made the main difference. He got good support from Nathan Farrell and Tadhg Callaghan in particular, while Ryan O’Connor in midfield worked hard throughout as did Conor Duffy, in defence, along with Patrick Bermingham and Oisin Marron who were well to the fore. Inniskeen to their credit pushed the issue right to the very end and never threw in the towel and they had excellent performances from Aidan Woods in midfield, Kieran McNulty and Andrew Woods in attack, while Christopher Hanratty contributed well when introduced for the start of the second-half. Carrickmacross led at half-time by 2-5 to 0-7, both goals by Stephen O’Hanlon, his 1st from a penalty and he went on to cap a man of the match performance with his contribution in the second-half as Carrickmacross ran out winners with 7 points to spare although their 3rd goal came 2 minutes into stoppage time at the end of the match.
