Latton Captain wins Young Volunteer Award

Latton are proud as a Club to have so many Volunteers at all levels including Coaches and Club Administrators . As a club they take every opportunity to show  recognition and in this respect recently nominated their U17 Coach & Senior Team Captain Christopher Rice for the ‘Translink Young GAA Volunteer’. This is an Ulster GAA award to recognise Young People within GAA Clubs who have given their time & skills as a volunteer .

Christopher has been a member of the Club from U6 to date. He has played at all levels and has also had Ulster Success in 2016 as part of the Monaghan U21 winning squad. The  U17’S/ Minors due to the changes in age groupings in Monaghan required a Coach with up to date knowledge and skills to train them for 2018 Season. The current coaches approached Christopher to see if he would take on the role. He agreed to take this squad of over 20 Young players . He has been a breath of fresh air at training with the young Boys (Ages 15 -18) being delighted with their new drills and expert advice that he has brought to training sessions. Christopher has given a large amount of time to training this squad and for this Latton are very grateful. Christopher is also the Senior Captain, a task that requires a large amount of commitment and is also to the fore in the Club Fund Raising .
Christopher was chosen from a large number of applicants from all over Ulster to be the recipient of ‘Translink Young GAA Volunteer June 2018’ Award.
Christopher recently collected his award at Translink Depot in Armagh. TransLink
