Manor Farm Under 15 Division 3 Shield League Final
Corduff 3-11 Inniskeen 2-10
23/08/18
Corduff added the shield title to the championship crown they claimed last month against a physically strong Inniskeen outfit in Magheracloone on Thursday evening. The game was played with honesty and sincere endeavour throughout with both sides literally putting their bodies on the line at times.
Inniskeen were the quicker out of the traps in this keenly fought derby encounter. Their corner forward Alan Jones the brother of county under 17 forward Sean Jones was a reliable source of scores for the ‘Grattans’. But slowly Corduff edged back into the contest inspired by the richly talented Diarmuid Marron and their captain Danny Robinson. By the half-time whistle the ‘Gaels’ were ahead by the minimum on a scoreline of 2-4 to 1-6.
The referee had a busy time in the second half handing out several yellow cards as both teams tried to gain the ascendancy. Inniskeen appeared to be destined for victory when they led by 3 points heading into the home straight. But Corduff never accepted their apparent fate. Remarkably Inniskeen wouldn’t score for the remainder of the game while Corduff scored 1-4 to complete a memorable victory for the black and amber boys.

Conor Ruxton opened Corduff’s account with a point followed by a goal by Andrew Collins in the 10th minute.
Inniskeen responded with 2 more points and a Diarmuiud Marron free reduced Inniskeen’s lead to 2 points until Danny Robinson rattled the net putting Corduff ahead by a point for the first time in the match. Corduff now began to gain a foothold and with the supporters behind them the momentum was with them. Clinical defending by the Corduff’s defence held Inniskeen scoreless for 8 minutes until the 2 Dylans added to their tally at one end while Diarmuid Marron’s accuracy added to Corduff’s at the other end. Corduff held a one point advantage at the interval on a scoreline of 2-04 to 1-06.
With the minimum between the sides after the restart the second half promised to be a close encounter. Corduff got off to a brighter start with Tadhg Hegarty opening the scoring plus points from Diarmuid Marron and Conor Ruxton adding to their tally while a point by Dylan Mc Donald plus 3 from Inniskeen’s top scorer Alan Jones levelled things for the first time .
The Alan Jones’ show continued as he smashed home his second goal to push Inniskeen ahead going into the last quarter.
Corduff dug deep and Diarmuid Marron who was now in in flying form found the net for Corduff’s 3rd goal and the sides locked horns again 3-07 to 2-10. Corduff now gathered pace and once again with clinical defending began to dominate and held Inniskeen scoreless to the final whistle while Diarmuiud Marron and Conor Ruxton extended Corduff’s lead to a 4 point victory 3-11 to 2-10.
