A sharper Blayney team accounted for Carrick in the U15 Championship Final final played in Páirc Mhic Eoin Drumhowan this evening Friday the 1oth July. Carrick were first on the scoreboard with points from their two main threats James Slevin and and Darragh Watters. That was as good as it got for the south Monaghan side and by the 10th minute of the game Blayney were ahead by a point with the score from Thomas Keenan. Another point by David Moorehead led to the first of Blayney’s four goals which was scored by Nathan Mc Ardle. Carrick at this stage hit a point in return from an excellent free by Darragh Watters. However the game ended as a contest when Blayney score two goals well taken by Nathan Mc Ardle and Jason Clarke who had just been introduced. Niall Rice then scored a delightful point from the wing on the half time whistle to leave the score at the break Blayney 3-5 Carrick 0-3
Darragh Watters opened Carrick’s account in the 2nd half but Blayney then hit 1 -5 without reply as the scores slowed down with the game entering the final minutes. However it must be mentioned that some of the Blayney scores were excellent long range ones. Carrick then scored another free in injury time to leave Blayney winners in end on a full time scoreline of 4-10 to 0-5
