Monaghan GAA Coaching & Games organised an U9 all county Go Games blitz ran in St Tiarnachs Park Clones. This was delivered across Friday 27th and Saturday 28th July. This was implemented to cater for big numbers of teams and to reduce the sitting out time of teams. We had 23 of the 29 clubs taking part with over 40 teams playing football.
It was great to see the kids play on the hallowed turf of St Tiarnachs Park one week after their heroes played against Kerry on this pitch. Unfortunately on Saturday we were not blessed with the brilliant weather we have had, and we were treated to heavy rain but the rain never dampened the kids spirit as they played through it and enjoyed themselves immensely.
The kids really enjoyed the experience and we thank everyone for making this possible. The kids played 3 rounds of matches against other clubs which made for some very entertaining games over the weekend. Some brilliant levels of skill on show also from all the teams which is a credit to their club and their coaches for the hard work they are putting into their youth. Keep up the good work.
We would like the thank the mentors and clubs for getting back to us very early with team numbers and confirmation of attendance so early which made organising the blitz run very smoothly.
Big thanks to Tommy McArdle and Clones GAA for allowing us use of the pitch and special thanks to the grounds staff for having the pitch in immaculate condition which it is all year round.
Big thanks also to the young whistlers who done a brilliant job over the two days. These blitzes are great for our young referees to help them develop and learn.
Thanks also to all the full time staff at Monaghan Coaching & Games for helping out over the two days.
Clubs who attended the blitz over the weekend included Scotstown, Sean McDermotts, Tyholland, Eire Og, Latton, Emyvale, Castleblayney, Drumhowan, Cremartin, Corduff, Clones, Killeevan, Donaghmoyne, Magheracloone, Carrick, Truagh, Inniskeen, Aughnamullen, Monaghan Harps, Clontibret, Currin, Aghabog and Rockcorry.
Big thanks to the clubs again for their continued support of the Go Games which is great for the development of the younger generation. Big thanks to GR8 for sponsoring our Go Games.
The last U9 Go Games is down to take place on Saturday August 18th in clubs assigned to host.
