UNIVERSAL GRAPHICS JUNIOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.

Emyvale 2-20, Drumhowan 2-9.

Ryan McAnespie was orchestrator in chief, aided and abetted by David McAllister and Daniel McMahon, as Emyvale got their championship campaign off to a winning start against a wasteful Drumhowan in Clontibret on Sunday afternoon last. It wasn’t until the second-half however that they produced their best football, as a battling Drumhowan kept things very fluid in the 1st half at the end of which the eventual winners led by just 2 points, 2-6 to 2-4, both Emyvale’s goals by David McAllister, while Colm Lambe netted Drumhowan’s 2 majors. In the second-half Emyvale took increasing control, hitting 3 unanswered points in the opening 6 minutes and from there to the finish any time Drumhowan threatened they were always able to respond as they outscored the Geraldine’s in the second-half by 14 points to 5, finishing with 4 unanswered points, 3 of those in stoppage time, to run out comfortable winners and put down a marker that on this form they will be one of the teams to be reckoned with at the business end of things later.
