Ulster Minor Football Championship Preliminary Round

Derry 2-14 Monaghan 2-13 (AET)                          28/4/18

Monaghan’s Ulster MFC campaign started with a dramatic extra-time defeat against Derry in the Preliminary Round at Celtic Park last Saturday. An in-form Monaghan team had been seven points to the good at the end of a dominant first-half performance with the wind at their backs, but they were pegged back thereafter. Monaghan had regained command in extra-time through an Aaron Mulligan goal but two majors in the last five minutes turned a compelling encounter in Derry’s favour.

Monaghan now await a draw to discover their next opponents in the qualifiers.
