Reserves: We lost out at home to Castleblayney in the Platinum Tanks Reserve Football League Division 1B last Saturday. A much-changed team from the opening game fell behind in the early stages as Blayney found the net twice. John Mulligan, Conor Duffy, Dylan McKenna and Conor McCrystal hit points either side of half-time as we began to compete better, before Aidan Burns got a goal back. Blayney stayed ahead, however, to win by 2-12 to 1-7.

Tyholland conceded the RFL Division 2B game due to be played on Monday. We have another home game in Division 1B on Saturday against Cremartin at 5pm.
Minors: Our minor footballers (U-18) start their league campaign in Group B of Division One with a home game against Donaghmoyne on Tuesday at 6.30pm. Good luck to Mel McMorrow, Nicholas Scott, Chris Conway, Val Forde and all involved.
U-13: Our U-13 teams start their league campaigns this Saturday. Our Division One team are away to Carrickmacross for a 12 noon throw-in, while our Division Five side host Scotstown at 2pm. Good luck to Finbarr Conlon, Adrian Gunn, Gerry Lynch, Patrick O’Hanlon, Brendan Burns and all involved.
Juveniles: Our U-13s start their league this weekend, while the U-11 football schedule begins on Saturday week (March 31). The U-15 Football League gets underway on Thursday, April 5.
St. Patrick’s weekend: Our juveniles again took part in the Monaghan Town St. Patrick’s Day parade last Saturday. Thanks to the many people who joined us in the clubhouse, to all club members for their support, the young musicians who played and everyone who brought food along. There was also a seisiún ceoil in the clubhouse on Sunday night; thanks again to everyone involved.
County: Good luck to Neil McAdam and the Monaghan senior footballers in their final Allianz NFL game against Dublin at Croke Park on Sunday. Good luck also to Brendan Óg Ó Dufaigh, Lochlainn Power and the county minor footballers in the Ulster league on Saturday.
Handball: Huge congratulations from all at the club to Eoghan and Louise McGinnity on their brilliant All-Ireland Handball double success on Monday!
Membership: Registration fees for 2018 are now due and can be paid to club registrar Kevin Treanor or in the clubhouse. Fees are €20 for players up to and including U-11; €30 for all other players and members and €60 for a family membership. Please note that all players must be paid-up members to be insured for 2018.
Dates to remember: The Senior Football League is to start on Saturday week, March 31 (at home to Latton). Our Saturday-morning coaching for juveniles will kick off in late March. The juvenile club’s annual Cake Sale is set for April 28. Darkness into Light will take place for a fifth time in Monaghan on May 12, 2018. The Ladies Club’s Abbey Fanning Tournament is scheduled for June 9.
