Allianz National Football League Division One
Dublin 0-17 Monaghan 2-12 25/3/18
Monaghan ended Dublin’s unbeaten run in the Allianz NFL in a dramatic finish at Croke Park on Sunday. A last-gasp point from Fintan Kelly saw Malachy O’Rourke’s side earn a first win over Dublin since 2006 in a game where they had trailed narrowly for long spells.
A goal from Vincent Corey on 12 minutes helped Monaghan change ends on level terms at 1-5 to 0-8 and although Dublin led for much of the second half, the introduction of Jack McCarron (who hit 1-1) heralded a strong finish from the visitors. An added-time point from Brian Howard looked to have earned a draw for the All-Ireland champions until Kelly’s late winner saw Monaghan finish their league campaign on a high.
Dublin have still qualified for next Sunday’s league final against Galway, while Monaghan (who ended up just a point outside the top two) face Tyrone in the Ulster SFC quarter-finals on May 20.
