The Deirdre Rooney cup will be on the move to another Club in the County this weekend. The Cup presented by The Rooney Family Scotstown and is awarded for the Club is Fearr in Scór Sinsear has been in circulation from 2006.The Scotstown Club were the first recipients back in 2006 and are also at present the 2017 cup holders. The Rooney Family have a long association with Scór whether it be by promoting, supporting, participating and even mentoring.
The late Deirdre along with her brother Michael had participated in Scór from a very early age. In 1994 in Cork & 1996 in Athlone they were crowned All Ireland Scor champions in the Instrumental Music section. Two All Ireland Scór Titles in the space of 2 years is not a story to be told in many houses around Ireland An Both Abu !!!
The Acorn Life sponcered Scór Sinsir Competition (Over 17) will be held in Tullycorbet Hall this Sunday 25th February at 3pm. Competitions in Rince Foirne, Rince Seit, Solo Singing, Ballad Singing, Recitation, Group Music, Drama. Please email entries for Scór Sinsir Please state name of competitor, title of song/recitation etc and name to irishculturalofficer.monaghan@gaa.ie GAA/LGFA club and club numbers. Clubs are asked to make a special effort to enter in at least one discipline please have your entries with the email on the above as soon as possible.
