Arch Club: We were delighted to host Monaghan Arch Club in our clubhouse for the ninth year in a row last Thursday night. As ever, this was a very enjoyable night, with music, dancing and singing by the Arch Club choir. Our Vice-Chairman Mel McMorrow welcomed everyone along, while our highlight of the night once again was Hugh Coyle giving his speech on behalf of his two favourite clubs, signing off with three cheers for the Harps! Thanks to everyone involved with the Arch Club for joining us on the night and to our many club members who helped out in any way or who provided food. See social media and The Northern Standard for photos. We look forward to hosting the Arch Club again for a tenth time in 2019.

Dates to remember: Scór Sinsir takes place this Sunday, February 25. The Senior Football League is scheduled to start on Saturday, March 10 (away to Truagh), with the Reserve League action beginning a week earlier. Our Saturday-morning coaching for juveniles will kick off in late March and our juveniles will again be taking part in the St. Patrick’s Day parade. Any adult club members available to steward the St. Patrick’s Day parade can contact Dónal Sherry on 086 2336159. The juvenile club’s annual Cake Sale is set for April 28.

Reserves: We have been drawn in the preliminary round of both 2018 Reserve Football Championships: at home to Cremartin in the O’Duffy Cup and Carrickmacross in the Crawley Cup.

County: Well done to Neil McAdam and the Monaghan senior footballers on their Allianz NFL win over Kerry last Sunday and good luck against Tyrone in Castleblayney on Saturday.

Membership: Registration fees for 2018 are now due and can be paid to club registrar Kevin Treanor or in the clubhouse. Fees are €20 for players up to and including U-11; €30 for all other players and members and €60 for a family membership. Please note that all players must be paid-up members to be insured for 2018.

Club Draw: Thanks to everyone who helped us with the GAA’s National Club Draw. The big increase in the number of tickets sold by club members for this year’s draw is a testament to all involved, led by Club Chairman Jimmy Croarkin and Treasurer Dermot Coyle.

Sponsor a Seat: To celebrate and promote the continued development of our facilities at Gavan Duffy Park, we are offering the unique opportunity to sponsor/dedicate a seat in our stand at a cost of €50. See our club website (monaghanharps.gaa.ie) or contact Club Secretary Val Forde (secretary.monaghanharps.monaghan@gaa.ie) for more details.

Charity match: All funds raised from our annual New Year’s Day charity match will go to a local charity/charities to be named soon.
