Monaghan continue their Dr. McKenna Cup campaign with a home game against Donegal in Clones on Sunday.
Monaghan started with a five-point defeat against Fermanagh on Wednesday night, while Donegal ran out comfortable winners over Queen’s University, Belfast. Donegal are in their second game of the second managerial term of Declan Bonner, who guided their minors and U-21s to Ulster success in recent years. Michael Langan and new recruit Nathan Mullins led the scoring for a largely youthful Donegal team in round one.
Malachy O’Rourke has made nine changes to his team, with Ryan Wylie, Thomas Kerr, Fintan Kelly, Owen Coyle, Darren Hughes, Karl O’Connell, Conor McCarthy, debutant Colm Lennon and first-time starter Dean Connolly coming in for John McCarron, Barry Kerr, Kieran Duffy, Páraic McGuirk, Stephen Finnegan, Neil McAdam, Owen Duffy, David Garland and James Wilson. Seven of the aforementioned players are among Sunday’s list of substitutes, which also features inter-county rookies Shane Garland and Damien McArdle.
