Monaghan v Queen’s University, Wednesday, 8.00, Castleblayney
Monaghan continue their Dr. McKenna Cup campaign with a home game against Queen’s University, Belfast in Castleblayney on Wednesday night.
Monaghan started with a five-point defeat against Fermanagh a week ago, before seeing the game against Donegal postponed until this Sunday. Queen’s lost to Donegal in round one and they were pipped by Fermanagh at the weekend.
Malachy O’Rourke has named a team showing ten changes from the Fermanagh game, with Ryan Wylie, Karl O’Connell, Fintan Kelly, Owen Coyle, Aaron Lynch, Thomas Kerr, Jack McCarron, Darren Hughes, debutant Colm Lennon and first-time starter Dean Connolly coming in for John McCarron, Barry Kerr, Kieran and Owen Duffy, Páraic McGuirk, Stephen Finnegan, Neil McAdam, Owen Duffy, David Garland and James Wilson. Seven of the aforementioned players are among the list of substitutes, which also features inter-county rookies Shane Garland, Damien McArdle and Brian McQuaid.
Queen’s are managed by former Armagh star Aidan O’Rourke and the Belfast college can call on the likes of Ryan Burns, James McMahon and Niall Keenan and Emmett Bradley to lead their challenge.
