Bank of Ireland Dr. McKenna Cup Section C
Monaghan 2-13 Queen’s University 0-7 10/1/18
Monaghan got their first win of 2018 at the expense of Queen’s University, Belfast at a foggy St. Mary’s Park, Castleblayney on Wednesday night. A first-minute goal from Man of the Match David Garland sent Monaghan on their way and they finished the first half in the same manner when Jack McCarron found the net from close range to hand the hosts a 2-8 to 0-2 lead. Queen’s competed better after the restart as the fog worsened, but with Garland leading nine Monaghan scorers, they got off the mark in the McKenna Cup ahead of this Sunday’s rescheduled game against Donegal in Clones.
