Monaghan GAA Coaching & Games recently held a Primary Schools Skills Competition in Cloghan for both Football and Hurling on the 30th November.
19 Schools took part in the Football element of the Skills Competition being that of a 4 man team format. It focused on the skill of kick passing and kicking for scores. The competition was set up in 4 stages, with Kick Rounders, Conditioned Games and 2 Kicking for Scores stations.
Urbleshanny came in 1st position with an overall score 175 points. They received 15 footballs for their school and a hoodie for each member of their winning team.
Corracrin came in 2nd place with 115 points, receiving 10 footballs for their school.
In 3rd place came Glaslough with 105 points, receiving 5 footballs for their school.
The Hurling Competition was an individual event with the focus on Striking for Distance, Striking for Accuracy and an Agility Activity. 18 schools took part in the Hurling part of the day in what was tough, testing conditions.
Our Winners on the day were:
1st – Darragh McMahon (Annayalla NS) – received a Hoodie, a Hurl and a box of sliotars for his school
2nd – Brion Sherry (Castleblayney BNS) – received a Hurl and a box of sliotars for his school
3rd – Cameron McMeel (Deravoy NS) – received a box of sliotars for his school
