These last 5 disciplines focus around a very prominent area in the county of Music, Dancing & Singing.
Solo Singing /Amhránaíocht Aonair this can be unaccompanied or accompanied by the participant, “Molly Malone” and “Grace “have been very popular over the years. Song can be as Gaeilge no as Bearla
Ballad Groups/ Bailéad Ghrúpa these can comprise 3-5 members of the group. Members can accompany themselves with instruments. At Scór na bPáistí only 1 song will be required so we are looking forward to hearing ” I know my Love ” and ” The Little skillet pot ” in Clontibret next week.
Instrumental Groups / Ceol Uirlise again comprises of 3-5 members. Over the years we have seen a vast range of musical instrument debuting in Scór na bPáistí with the group only required to play 1 tune. Old favourites are ” Maggie in the Woods ” and ” The Kesh Jig “
Figure Dancing / Rince Foirne Dancing can be the highlight of the night for some spectators , 3 & 6 hand reels are very popular here and then we have some clubs who are steeped in dancing that might dance ” trip to the cottage”.
Set Dancing / Rince Seit . Set dancing is very popular in certain areas in the County and they turn out for Scor and display their ” Cavan Reel” or the “Plain Set “
Our Coiste Scór Committee would like to encourage all Clubs in the County to please make a special effort and participate in Scór na bPáistí, whether it be a quiz team or a solo singer give them the opportunity to take part in Scor.
