PLATINUM TANKS RESERVE FOOTBALL LEAGUE DIVISION 1 A FINAL.
Scotstown 1-14, Truagh 1-9.
Scotstown staged an increasingly effective second-half performance to retain the Platinum Tanks sponsored reserve football league division 1A title at the expense of Truagh, the team they also defeated in last year’s final. Conditions in Emyvale were difficult with incessant rain and a greasy surface which did make life difficult for both sets of players and led to errors on both sides, but this was, nevertheless, a very entertaining contest with end to end moves, some great scores, good defensive work and a number of excellent personal performances. Truagh a had marginally the better of things for the opening 17 or 18 minutes of this contest before Scotstown took the lead for the 1st time 5 minutes from the break and went on to lead by 2 at half-time. Scotstown laid the foundation for victory with a strong start to the second-half that saw them ahead by 6 points after 7 minutes and it was a gap that Truagh could not close but it took Scotstown keeper Conor Forde to be at his best on a number of occasions to deny them the goal that might have helped them salvage the situation.
