2017 Scór na bPáistí

Scór na bPáistí (for Primary School children) will be held in Clontibret on Saturday October 21st at 3pm. Competitions in Rince Foirne, Rince Seit, Solo Singing, Ballad Singing,  Recitation, Group Music, Drama and Quiz.

Not all Counties hold  Scór na bPáistí and we in Monaghan are very lucky to have had  such a bumper turnout over the years.  So how do we get involved in Scór na bPáistí ? Firstly find out who the cultural officer is in your Club then maybe approach your National School and see is there any way they could assist and then you may have someone in your area who has knowledge of one or other of Music, Song, Dance & Drama approach them. It’s a great way of getting them involved in your club as a whole. Over the next few weeks we will be going through the disciplines starting with …

Léiriú Stáitse  –  what is Léiriú  ???

There has been a lot of movement and discussion about this over the past few years. The fun element is still there. This is a short group sketch can be composed by someone in your area about something local or can be any other sketch that may be available out there. Back in 2016 Gael Trúicha composed a topical piece around that time about 1916 and were very successful with it.

 Aithriseoireacht

This is a solo spoke / recitation piece and we have seen and heard some great Aithriseoireacht over the years a few come to mind like “dancing around my handbag “ “Ach I don’t know “ and of course “My Friend Gene”.

Like any other competitions there are some rules we have  to adhere to therefore  Leabhar Rialacha Scor are available from any Coiste Scór member or are available on line.

Let’s get our youth out and involved it our traditional pass times  If you feel your club  needs any more information please contact Coiste Scór on the below.

 email  to irishculturalofficer.monaghan@gaa.ie
