The final week of this years Kellogg’s Cul Camps took place last week with five camps taking place in Latton, Donaghmoyne, Magheracloone, Scotstown and Corduff. Similar to every other camp this years numbers on most camps were far and above the numbers that attended in 2016. 148 boys and girls attended the Latton camp, 173 children went to Donaghmoyne, 208 were in Magheracloone and massive 256 in Scotstown and there was 98 in Corduff. That was a total of 883 children who attended a camp in Monaghan last week!

The children got to experience the full enjoyment of a Kellogg’s Cul Camp with a full range of fun games and activities throughout the week. Each of the participants who attended the camps got an opportunity to play football, hurling, camogie, rounders and and some camps handball.

On top of this county players Rory Beggan, Barry McGinn, Ryan McAnespie, Conor Forde, and Conor McCarthy were coaching at the camps. It’s great for the children to come and learn from our county hero’s, which will hopefully inspire them to want to play for their county team in the future. Rory attended all five camps over the week, where he completed a number of different challenges against the children. This seemed to go down well with the children and it’s something to look out for at the remainder of the camps.

Monaghan Coaching & Games Development Committee would like to thank the host clubs for providing their excellent facilities and for supporting and promoting the camps. Furthermore they would like to thank camp co-ordinators, coaches, parents and children for their help in ensuring the camps where a success.

As the parents are already aware, any child who registered on the first morning of the camp did not receive their kit and backpack during the camp due to such a large number of children attending the Kellogg’s Cul Camps this year. For any child who did not receive their kit, we will arrange a collection evening at the camp venue sometime in August once the extra kits arrive.
