MC ELVANEY’S WASTE & RECYCLING INTERMEDIATE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.
Inniskeen 1-10, Cremartin 0-9.
Inniskeen are through to the next round of the intermediate championship while a wasteful Cremartin exit this year’s competition after the Grattan’s 4 points victory in this fairly low-key and at times scrappy affair that was played in Drumhowan on Sunday afternoon last. Cremartin registered a total of 16 wides over the entire contest, 8 in each half and yet Inniskeen found it difficult enough to put them away as the Shamrocks had them under pressure for long periods in the second-half but just could not find the target. Inniskeen’s cause wasn’t helped when they lost Matthew McKenna to injury towards the end of the 1st half and in his absence the defence struggled in the 2nd period. Inniskeen led at half-time by 3 points and pushed that out to 5 in the early minutes of the second-half but they too then found scores hard to come by although the closest Cremartin got was to within 3 points going into the final 10 minutes of normal time with both sides guilty of a wasteful approach in those final minutes and Paul Meegan hitting the insurance point with 6 minutes of normal time remaining.
