MC ELVANEY’S WASTE & RECYCLING INTERMEDIATE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.
Doohamlet 0-11, Blackhill 0-10.
Two points in the dying minutes, one from top scorer Barry McBennett and then one that turned out to be the winner from substitute Kevin McArdle saw Doohamlet snatch the narrowest of victories over Blackhill in this sudden death eliminator that was played in Grattan Park, Inniskeen on Saturday evening last. Blackhill shaded the exchanges slightly in a closely contested 1st half at the end of which they led by a point and a point separated the sides on at least 4 occasions in a seesaw 2nd half with the game in the melting pot right up until the final minutes. At that stage Blackhill held a one point lead but the greater experience of Doohamlet told in the end as they carved out the winning scores to end Blackhill’s championship season and get their own aspirations back on track.
