Seniors: We had a 0-13 to 0-12 win away to Magheracloone in the County Monaghan Credit Unions Senior Football League on Friday.

Reserves: A busy week in the RFL Division 1A started with a defeat away to Donaghmoyne on Wednesday. We got off to a very slow start, allowing Donaghmoyne to hit 2-2 before we got off the mark. Shane McMahon, Dean Fanning and Conor Duffy were among our scorers as we got back into the game, but we were unable to undo the damage done early on, with Donaghmoyne hitting a few late points to secure a 2-12 to 0-11 win.

Team: Dylan McAree; Niall Treanor, Mustafa Gamal, Jamie Shields; Carl Foentjies, Niall Greenan (Capt.), Thomas Croarkin; Peter Coyle, Dylan McKenna; Conor Forde, Evan Doherty, Shane McMahon; Conor Duffy, Dean Fanning, Colm Shalvey.

Subs: Dessie McGarry for Greenan (inj.), Reece Treanor for Shalvey.

We hosted Truagh on Sunday, where we started brightly, only to fall 1-7 to 0-3 down by half-time. We got back into contention after the restart, with a Thomas Croarkin goal closing the gap to just two points, but a second goal for Truagh put the game beyond our reach. Best wishes to Conor Forde for a speedy recovery from injury.

Team: Dylan McAree; Niall Treanor, Mustafa Gamal (Capt.), Aidan Connell; Conor Forde, Carl Foentjies, Thomas Croarkin; Aodhán Óg McAnespie, Evan Doherty; Dylan McKenna, Shane McMahon; Conor Duffy; Colm Shalvey, Dean Fanning, Ruairí Forde.

Subs: Jamie Shields for C Forde (inj.), Reece Treanor for R Forde, Conor Flynn for Shalvey.

We host Carrickmacross in the RFL Division 2B next Wednesday at 8pm.

Minors: Our minors returned to action after the exam break with a 5-11 to 1-11 against St. Tiarnach Sarsfields on Tuesday. The championship starts with a quarter-final at home to St. Patrick’s next Tuesday at 7.30. Good luck to the team and management.

U-16: Our U-16s returned to action after the exam break with a 7-11 to 4-11 defeat away to Donaghmoyne last Thursday. The Cup section of the league got underway on Thursday, July 6 with a much better result at home to the same opposition: a 4-13 to 2-10 win.

U-14: Our U-14 Division Five team play away to Carrickmacross in the championship semi-finals this Sunday at 5pm.

U-12s: Our U-12 Division Five team had a good win away to Castleblayney on a 7-10 to 6-7 scoreline last Saturday. We travel to Blayney again for a Division One game this Saturday at 12 noon.

County: Good luck to Neil McAdam and the Monaghan senior footballers in Saturday’s SFC qualifier in Wexford.

Dates to remember: We will once again host a Kellogg’s Monaghan GAA Cúl Camp from July 10-14. Registration is open online now. Our own Harps Summer Camp will take place in August (14-18). Keep an eye on club notes for more details on these events.

Hurling notes:

Juveniles: Underage coaching and games continues every Sunday at 12pm in Rooskey.

U-12: Our next league fixture is at home to Cootehill on Monday, July 10 at 6.45pm.

Senior: We hosted Castleblayney last Thursday evening in the first round of the championship. With a large number of first-team absentees, this was always going to be a tough ask for a young Harps team, with six championship debuts in all. However, a solid first-half display saw us trail by four points (1-3 to 1-7) and we could even consider ourselves unlucky not to have been ahead given the number of missed opportunities.

Blayney built on their lead early in the second half, before a bewildering red card gave Castleblayney the comfort of a man advantage. From here the Harps struggled to create the same amount of chances and Blayney added a second goal, both coming from the dead ball. Ultimately, as the Harps tired, Blayney added further scores to run out 1-4 to 2-20 winners. We have an away fixture against Inniskeen next Thursday, July 13, at 8pm where our young squad will no doubt aim to build invaluable championship experience.

Team: Cillian Sherry; Alan Ryan, Dylan McAree, Éanna Finlay; Tiarnán Bramley, Conor Duffy, Anthony Greenan; Conor Flynn, Brendan Naughton; Paul Lee, Conor Forde, Ray Lee; Tommy Croarkin, Conor O’Neill, Reece Treanor.

Subs: Adrian Dalton, Luke Mulligan, Ruairí Forde, Michael Gissane, John Lowry, Gabe McQuillan.
