Féile 2017
So there we have it, after months of preparation, Féile came and went and thankfully it was a huge success. It all kicked off on Friday evening for our boys in Bailieboro who were unfortunate to be beaten in both of their games. Our first game against Baileboro was a very tough battle but we just couldn’t get over the line. The next game against the South London team was what you might call a washout. Never before had the lads encountered a team of their stature and the scoreboard didn’t bode well for us. However in true Magheracloone style the lads picked themselves up the next day and beat their host club Na Gaeil in what was a very exciting game. Performances improved as the game went on and the confidence soared. So it was on to the Semi final of the shield later that day which they also won making it two out of two on the day. A text message from their management read ‘Clones here we come!’
So down to the Peace Link we went on Sunday morning. It looked promising as we put the first score on the board but Cremartin hit back with three goals in quick succession. After a few changes Magheracloone kept plugging back into the game and it was a credit to the lads that they never gave up. Unfortunately the result didn’t go our way and we bowed out of the competition. Well done to all the lads who took part and represented the club so well in Féile. Thank you to the management team of Mark, Declan, Fintan and Martin for all they did for the competition also.
Well done to the girls U14 team for their displays over the weekend, they were very unfortunate not to reach the Final of the shield but be rest assured there’s more to come from this team.
The club would like to express their thanks to all involved in the organising of the competition weekend, the parents, host families, juvenile committee and the executive committee. There are too many to mention individually. Also to Na Gaeil, they were a pleasure to host and we wish them continued success.

Féile has come to an end for Magheracloone. Our boys reached the semi final, the girls were not as fortunate although they put in a superb performance.
The memories and friendships that were made over this weekend will stay with these boys and girls forever. It was a privilege to be a host club for Féile 2017 and just hope that we will compete in this competition in the future. Our club could not have hosted this competition without the help of so many people and we cannot thank you enough for making the weekend such a success, there are too many people to thank individually so collectively a huge go raibh mile maith agat to everyone involved.
Till next time.
