We in Cill Eanna  club are thrilled to have back playing football a young man that has made truly a remarkable achievement of strength through adversity, mind over matter, and back to where he belongs playing football for his beloved Geraldines. Take a bow Andrew Kierans and we hope you have a very healthy and happy time back on the playing fields. You are truly an inspiration and a great example to all.

 Feile
Pairc Eanna was a hive of activity over the past weekend on account of the club been a host for this year’s Feile Peile na nOg. On Friday the Killanny U14’s played Clann na Gael of Monaghan and O’ Raghallaigh’s from Drogheda, our guests Eire Og of Greystones from Wicklow also played the same opposition. Following the matches the 4 teams enjoyed refreshments in the centre provided by the players parents, thanks to the parents for what was an impressive spread. The Eire Og players were then allocated to the families they were spending the weekend with.
On Saturday morning the Killanny boys played Eire Og in what was a very sporting contest. Following the game it was on to Inniskeen where our team played in the quarter final of the shield competition against Clontibret, despite battling to the end the Killanny lads came up just short so ending our involvement in the competition. While the team and management were disappointed with the results it should be remembered they were competing with teams that had far greater resources.
On Saturday evening in assocation with the Killanny Ladies Club who were hosting the Ballymacarbry ladies from Waterford there was an evening of entertainment in the centre which included the showing of the Monaghan v Down match and a disco, refreshments were also served. Presentations were made by both Killanny clubs to their guests whilst they also made presentations to the Killanny clubs. Both the Eire Og and Ballymacarbry team managers spoke highly of the Killanny clubs and in particular the warm reception they received from the Killanny people. The event was a great sucess with the people from the various clubs getting to know each other.
On Sunday morning the Eire Og team played in the semi final of the cup competition at Inniskeen but were beaten by the eventual winners Doora Barefield from Clare. Testament that a bond had developed between the two club was that the Killanny players and host families turned out in force at Inniskeen to support the Eire Og boys.
The club wish to take this opportunity to thank all who contributed in whatever way to make the weekend such a memorable occassion and in particular the host families without who none of this would have been possible. Thank you.
