PLATINUM TANKS MC KEOWN CUP FINAL REPLAY

Corduff 2-11, Clontibret 0-13.

Corduff made no mistake at the 2nd time of asking as they clinched the Platinum Tanks sponsored reserve championship  division 3  McKeown Cup title at the expense of Clontibret in this entertaining if never spectacular replay that was played in excellent conditions in Blackhill on Sunday afternoon last. Corduff were never headed in the entire contest with the best that Clontibret achieved was being level at a point apiece after just 6 minutes. Central to this Corduff victory were goals in either half, their goal in the 1st half helped them to a 3 points half-time lead and their 2nd goal early in the second-half pushing them 6 points clear and leaving a misfiring Clontibret with quite a lot to do. Clontibret relied almost exclusively on Darragh Hughes for scores and he finished with 9 points, 5 from frees, while Corduff had a greater spread to their scorers with as many as 7 players on the score sheet and full forward Sean Burns a central character in their attacking strategy. Corduff led at half-time by 1-5 to 0-5 and while Clontibret got the margin down to 3 going into the final minutes they never looked like turning it around completely as Corduff defended in numbers and broke quickly on counter attacks.
