Hi Everyone,
Juveniles
Féile 2017.
What a fantastic weekend we had and what an honor to participate in Féile Peile na nÓg 2017 as a host club. On Friday afternoon we welcomed the Longford U-14 boys champions Shamrock Gaels and the Wicklow U-14 girls champions Tinahely to St. Oliver Plunkett Park and over the weekend we have all made lots of new friends and have formed memories to last a lifetime. What a festival of football it truly was with games played throughout the weekend. Unfortunately both our host clubs were knocked out at quarter final stage on the Saturday evening in their respective Cup quarter finals, but both our boys & girls teams progressed into Sunday to play in the shield semi-finals. The girls travelled to Killgarry, Co. Cavan on Sunday morning and unfortunately were knocked out and not progress any further. The boys travelled to Derrygonnelly on Sunday morning playing a semi-final and were runners up in the final. Well done to both teams and mentors you made your club very proud. A huge words of thanks must be extended to everyone who helped out in the preparation for this tournament and throughout the weekend, because without all your help this event would not be possible.
Féile Sponsor 2017
Emyvale GAA would like to sincerely like to thank Mark & Aine Wright from JMW Farms for coming on board as our Féile sponsor for 2017. Your support and generosity was extremely welcome and very much appreciated, thank you both.
U14’s done our club proud last weekend playing six games in the international Féile Peile na nÓg competition. The played three league games winning one and losing two qualifying them for the Shield quarter final which was played in Enniskillen last Saturday afternoon. In this match they placed the home team Enniskillen Gaels and they won this match comfortably on a score line of 7-13 to 1-01 and progressed to the Semi-Final stage of the competition. The semi-final took place in Derrygonnelly last Sunday morning where they played Crosserlough at 11am and won on a score line of Emyvale 0-7 v 1-2 Crosserlough. They now progressed to play Mayobridge in the final at 1:15pm in the same venue. They got the final off to a great start taking the opening scores despite playing against a very strong breeze and finished the first half just two points down with the wind in their backs for the second half. In the second half we had our fair share of the scoring chances but just didn’t convert them and the game finished Emyvale 1-7 v 1-11 Mayobridge. To reach the Boys Division 3 Shield Competition Final was huge achievement and we must congratulate the players and management team for the efforts in this endeavor, well done to everyone involved you all done your club proud.
