Week Three of the Kellogg’s Cul Camp’s kicked into action on Monday 17th July with five camps taking place in Truagh, Killanny, Eire Og, Ballybay and Aghabog. The trend from the first two weeks of the camps continued for Week Three with record numbers attending the camps. In Truagh 205 children attended the camp, Killanny 164 boys and girls attended the camp with 91 enjoying the Eire Og camp. The Ballybay camp had 222 children attend while Aghabog had 99 children taking part. That is a total of 781 children up 127 children from 2016!
The children got to experience the full enjoyment of a Kellogg’s Cul Camp with a full range of fun games and activities, coaches challenges throughout the week. Each of the participants who attended the camps got an opportunity to play football, hurling, camogie, rounders and and some camps had handball.
On top of this county players Rory Beggan, Conor McCarthy, Ryan McAnespie, Conor Forde and Barry McGinn were coaching at the camps. It’s great for the children to come and learn from our county hero’s, which will hopefully inspire them to want to play for their county team in the future. Rory attended all five camps over the week, where he completed a number of different challenges against the children. This seemed to go down well with the children and it’s something to look out for at the remainder of the camps.
Monaghan Coaching & Games Development Committee would like to thank the host clubs for providing their excellent facilities and for supporting and promoting the camps. Furthermore they would like to thank camp co-ordinators, coaches, parents and children for their help in ensuring the camps where a success.
As the parents are already aware, any child who registered on the first morning of the camp did not receive their kit and backpack during the camp due to such a large number of children attending the Kellogg’s Cul Camps this year. For any child who did not receive their kit, we will arrange a collection evening at the camp venue sometime in August once the extra kits arrive.
If you would like any further information about the camp please do not hesitate to contact county coordinator Paul O’Connor (086 837 4827)and he will be glad to help.
