Aghabog March On

UNIVERSAL GRAPHICS JUNIOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.

Aghabog 2-14, Rockcorry 1-7.

Aghabog proved too strong in practically every department and in most aspects of their play for a depleted Rockcorry in this one-sided, low-key and at times scrappy affair that was played in wet and greasy conditions in Gavan Duffy Park, Monaghan, on Sunday evening last. It’s a result that sees Rockcorry make their exit from the championship while Aghabog continue their winning ways but they will know that they will undergo more searching tests than this one. Aghabog were never headed in the entire contest as they racked up the scores in a quite one way 1st half where Ciaran Logue, the Smyth siblings and Sean O’Brien led a makeshift Rockcorry defence a merry dance. Aghabog had things more or less wrapped up by the break when they led by 12 points and while Rockcorry made a battle of it in the second-half it was always against superior odds and they never looked like turning it around.
