Monaghan Harps host St. Colmcille’s, Co. Meath at the John West Féile Peile na nÓg and will be competing in Division 1
St Colmcille’s is home to some great footballers of the past including Robbie O’Malley and Bernard Flynn and current star and Meath Captain Graham Reilly. A club who for many years languished in Junior and the lower echelons of Intermediate football, their last Intermediate title was back in 1988. In recent times a 10 year Schools Coaching Programme which is the largest in Meath has saw the fortunes of the club turnaround. Another Intermediate Title was landed last year in 2016, followed by the Leinster Intermediate Title before losing out to Westport in the All-Ireland Intermediate Final. Last year also saw the club lift its first ever Division 1 Minor Title.
At Juvenile, 2011 saw St Colmcille’s reach their first ever Division 1 Féile when they went to Cork and now in 2017 the club is back again in the Division 1 Féile hoping to get further than the quarter final. The current Féile Squad have set incredible standards in Meath and have won the Meath U12 Division 1 Title back in 2015, followed it up by winning the U13 Division 1 Title in 2016 and capped it all off this year by winning the Meath Division 1 Féile.
They are the first group through the Colmcille’s wonderful Schools Coaching Programme ” Club and School, Gaelic is Cool ! ” and they have set new records and a whole new bar of achievement. The squad is littered with many gifted players and currently 11 of this 27 man squad are on the Meath U14 Development Squad. The St Colmcille’s U14s are proud to be going to Féile where they are honoured to represent Meath and St Colmcilles at this great National competition
