Feile.
We are eagerly awaiting Eire Og, Greystones in Wicklow and O Raghallaighs Drogheda to our little parish for a feast of football in the All Ireland Under 14 John West Feile competition and hope that these teams will enjoy their stay with us.. Eire Og have won this competition on two previous occasions in 2006 and 2016. Our own U14 take part and we hope people will come out and support on the Friday and Saturday. The action starts at 5.00 Friday in Pairc Eanna
Reserves
Drunhowan 3g 11p
Cill Eanna 2g 15p.
We led for almost 5 minutes in this particular game played in glorious conditions on Saturday evening last. Jack Kiernan had 1g1p scored in the first 3 minutes but the opposition led for the rest of the game until Donal McArdle came up with the winner on 28minutes and we got out of Drumhowan with a one point victory. It was Jack Kiernans accurate boot with a total 1g 10 points, Callum Murrays high catching, Adam Duffys cutting runs through the Drumhowan defence that caught the eye in this particular game that saw a lot of our players missing for one reason or another. Well done to all who stepped up and kept us sitting on second place on the league table. Killian Collins made his return to the playing field after his shoulder injury.
Under 14
On Saturday last the Under 14’s welcomed Tyholland to Pairc Eanna. It was Tyholland who recorded the first score of the game but after that it was Killanny who took control of the game. The goals were scored by Cillían McConnon, Cillian McGahon, Darragh O’Shea and Michael Grimes. Tomás Gartlan at full forward scored some fine points and John Gartlan in his new position of midfield was also on the score sheet. Ronan O’Reilly in goals was solid and backs of Christopher Tobin, Conaill Marry, Matthew Mathers and Tomás Quinn kept the Tyholland attack quiet. Ryan Finn making his debut played well and looks to be a real asset to the team. Niall Quinn, Iarla Gartlan, John Kelly, Odhran McGinnety, Mark Carolan and James Duff all played well when they came on. Killanny won on a score line of 4-18 to 2-4. Now we look forward to Feile this weekend.
