On the field
What a difference a week can make from a couple of disappointing results for our sides it recent times, it was all smiles in the past 7 days with victories for our minors, U16’s and senior sides. The minors got the ball rolling with victory over Cremartin on Tuesday evening (25th April) and that was followed up by the U16’s staging a cracking comeback against Doohamlet on Thursday evening past to register a 2nd win from 4 outings and still have a game in hand as they await the rescheduling of their fixture with Sean Mc Dermotts and our senior side finally got points on the board in the Junior league with a hard fought 1 point win over Scotstown on Sunday. Dwayne Rooney with nerves of steel slotting home a penalty with virtually the last kick of the game to secure the victory. The U12’s were also in action over the weekend when they faced Latton in the Spring league final and while the result did not go their way, the future is bright with a fine performance against a strong side. All players present did receive medals from Monaghan county player Dessie Mone.
Upcoming Fixtures
Tonight (Thursday) the U16’s will welcome St Tiarnach Sarsfields to Pairc Mhuire at 7:30pm in Division 3 of the league. Tomorrow evening (Friday) is a nice tasty local derby to look forward to as Aghabog will be the visitors in the Junior league, throw in at 7:30. The U14’s have a weekend off and are back in action on May 20th and the minors who are out every Tuesday night were up against Clann Na Gael on the 2nd of May. (No result when going to print) and will travel to Sean Mc Dermotts on Tuesday next (9th) at 7:30.
Investing in our Community’s future.
It may have been noted in recent days on our Facebook page the exciting new plans we have for the future of our community and club with the proposal to build a community centre along side our existing clubrooms. Yes it is an ambitious project, but as was mentioned, what is a community without ambition. A number of Meetings among community groups have drawn positive vibes with the need for a modern focal point in the area well documented. Plans for a public meeting to discuss the project will be released shortly. Hard work and dedication will be the order of the day to make it happen but let us be the generation to make it happen for the generations that are to follow.
