Electric Ireland Ulster Minor Football Championship Preliminary Round

Monaghan 1-17 Fermanagh 2-7                              20/5/17

Monaghan started their Ulster MFC campaign with a seven-point win over Fermanagh in Clones on Saturday. With Robbie McAlister (1-1) and Andrew Woods leading the scoring, Monaghan were 1-8 to 0-5 up at half-time and they were ten points clear by the time Fermanagh substitute Callum Jones found the net on 41 minutes. Monaghan hit back, led by Seán Burns, Aaron Mohan and sub Conor Doyle. Another Fermanagh sub, Fearghal McGovern, hit what would prove to be a consolation goal as Monaghan advanced to a trip to Cavan next Sunday (May 28) for a 7pm throw-in.
