RESULTS
Seniors
We welcomed old rivals Ballybay to Magheracloone on Saturday evening last. It was a nightmare start for Magheracloone with the visitors hitting 1-01 unanswered within three minutes. It looked like there was no coming back but the lads dug deep and worked hard and at half time the score was, Magheracloone 1-05 V Ballybay 2-04. It looked like we were back on the road to recovery when Magheracloone got a penalty early in the second half after Paudie Finnegan was fouled in the square. Allan Kieran found the net on his second attempt after the keeper was off the line on the first attempt. This put us two points ahead but unfortunately, we were down to fourteen men not long after that as we lost Ronan Freeman to a straight red. Unforced errors cost us on the day and in the end, we were beaten by a stronger Ballybay team on a score line of 4-08 to 2-09
U16’S
Our U16’s played Castleblayney at home on Thursday evening in what was a very one sided game. Magheracloone were totally out played by a much stronger Blayney side.
U12’S
After having an easy run in the Spring League, Magheracloone faced their toughest challenge when they took on Carrickmacross in the Spring League final. Magheracloone had the advantage of a strong wind in the first half but failed to capitalize on it. Magheracloone suffered a further blow in the first five minutes when they lost Corey Doogan to a red card. Carrickmacross also saw a red card in the same incident. The lads kept with the Emmet’s in the first half with some fine scoring and went in at half time 2 points down 6 V 8. Carrickmacross used the wind to their advantage in the second half and pulled away from the Mitchells finishing on a score line of Magheracloone 0-9 V Carrickmacross 0-18.
