Killanny Club Notes

By Mary McEneaney Fri 19th May

Crawley Cup
We done to the reserve team who defeated Clones in the quarter final of the reserve championship played in Clones on Friday last.
Good Luck
Best of luck to Dean, Eddie and Daniel who are part of the Monaghan minor team that take on Fermanagh in the Ulster Championship  this weekend
UNDER 16S:  The team continued their unbeaten run with a  comprehensive away win against Carrickmacross  on Saturday last on a scoreline of 4-24 to 1-1 respectively . This leaves them top of Division 3 with one match to go before the exam break. The lads took a while to settle during which they had one player sent off but they regrouped and the scores followed. Well done to all. Next match is a home fixture  against Cremartin on Thursday May 25th at 7.30pm.
Under 14
The under 14’s travelled to Doohamlet last Monday. The first half saw the two teams play a close competitive game with not much between the teams at half time. At the beginning of the second half Doohamlet scored a number of unanswered goals and we were never able to recover. The team however didn’t give up and showed great heart to keep going. Darragh O’Shea went off with a bad injury just before the end of the game. We wish him a speedy recovery.
Get Well Soon
A speedy recovery to Daragh O’Shea who took a heavy knock in a recent U14 match.
U12’s
The U12 team travelled to Emyvale on Saturday morning for their first game in the Summer league.
Despite losing out to a strong Emyale outfit there were lots of positives to take from the game. In the first half Killanny played with the breeze, Conor Burns and Sean McMahon were well to the fore kicking some fine scores, while Padraig Corrigan and Conor King worked tirelessly throughout. At half time the teams were all square, on the resumption Killanny raced into an early lead with Tomas Quinn, Odhran McGinnity and Daniel Breen leading the charge. Emyvale however were not to be denied depite the best efforts of Sean Duffy and Darragh Murphy.
The U8
The under 8 squad travelled to Emmet Park, Carrickmacross on Saturday morning past. Despite the poor weather conditions the boys played 3 matches and were more then a match for their opposition. Well done to all concerned.
Sympathy
We send our deepest sympathy to senior player Conor Russel on the death of his grandmother Mary McAleenan. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam dhilis
