Hurlers in action at Provincial level

Monaghan GAA had a busy few days in Hurling over this past weekend where the County Minor Hurlers and the U14 Development Squad were in action at provincial level.

The County Minor Hurling team travelled to Ballybofey last Friday evening to contest the Ulster Minor Hurling Shield Semi-Final against Donegal. It proved a step too far for the team and Donegal were the deserving winners on the night. A number of the County Minor Hurling team still have the Celtic Challenge to look forward to over the coming weeks. This competition starts tonight (3rd May) in Cloghan against Louth with a throw-in time of 7.30pm.

The U14 Hurling Development Squad travelled to Owenbeg on Saturday to take part in an Ulster Blitz. The blitz proved to be a great learning opportunity for this bunch of players. They performed admirably throughout the day where they played matches against Tyrone, Derry and South Ulster. Monaghan defeated Tyrone, and suffered defeats to Derry and South Ulster. There were some great performances on the day particularly from Paul Maguire, Zach McArdle, Thomas Keenan and Tiernan Mahon in Defence, whilst in attack, Leo Maloney, David Moorhead and Thomas Hughes combined well together.
