Lost out to a very strong Monaghan Harps side on Monday night in Monaghan. Next up for the lads is a trip to Carrickmacross on Saturday the 27th of May.

U-14’s

Play Inniskeen this coming Saturday down in Inniskeen at 12pm. Best of luck to the lads in this one as they look to build on their impressive start to the league.

U-16’s

Had another excellent win over Doohamlet on Thursday last coming out on top on a scoreline of 10-14 to 6-1. This leaves the lads in a strong position in the league. Well done lads.

Minors

Our minors lost to Castleblayney last Tuesday in a cracking game in Blayney on a scoreline of 5:11 to 3:13. Blayney got a dream start and led early with two early goals (one from a bizarre penalty) and set the pace and were still ahead at the break .However in the second half Captain Declan McKernan and Cameron Dowd led a spirited comeback that just felt short as Blayney got late scores to win the game. Team Cian McCarney Rian Kierans, Conor Reilly, Kevin Coogan, Ciaran Smyth, Mathew Reihill 0-1,Alan Corley, Cameron Dowd 1 -1, Tiarnan Monaghan 0-4, Ollie Clerkin 0- 2, Declan McKernan 2-2,Daniel Connolly 0-2, James Cleary, Ciaran McGinn, Eoin Reavey, Subs Henry Hipwell Cleary 0-1, Philip Leonard, Callum McCormick.

We wish all our exam students all the best in their exams but training continues on Fri evening at 6:45 pm. Lads we want you to do well in football but we also want you to do well in your exams to achieve all your hopes and dreams in the future so give your studies everything in these last few weeks.

Feile

Clones have been drawn to host Desertmartin GAC from Derry for this years Feile on the weekend of the 23rd-25th of June. There will be great excitement about the town this weekend and Clones are delighted to host the Derry Champions.

Referees Needed

The club is asking anyone who would have an interest in refereeing games this year to please contact club Chairman John Holland. Our games are not possible without referees and Monaghan GAA is currently very short on volunteers.

Junior B’s

Had a magnificent performance on Wednesday night winning against Rockorry over in Rockorry. This must have been one of the youngest Adult teams that Clones have ever fielded and it was great to get out with a win on a scoreline of 4-13 to 4-07. Unfortunatley they could not get the win in the quarter final of the Championship on Friday night when a strong Killany side visited Clones. Despite a great start from our lads 3 first half goals left Clones trailing for the rest of the game. There has been an excellent improvement for the B’s since the start of the year and they can look forward to the rest of the league with optimism. Next up is Aghabog this Sunday at 2pm in Aghabog.

Please support all our Teams

Monaghan V Fermanagh

Saturday the 20th of May see a massive day for the club. There will be a monumental effort between Shops, stewarding, Programmes and Ice-Creams. This is the first of what we hope will be a busy summer and we look forward to seeing everyone on Sunday. To Fintan Kelly, James Mealiff and the Monaghan Seniors we wish the best of luck as they take on Fermanagh on Saturday evening. Hopefully they can put in a good performance and get the ball rolling for the year.

Congratulations

To Cormac Adamson, member of our U-12 team who won gold at the recent National Community Games in Gymnastics last week. Well done Cormac an unbelievable achievement.

Condolences

The club would like to extend it’s condolences to executive member James Kierans and former player Kieran and indeed the extended Kierans family on the death of their mother Mena. Also to Rian (U17 county player) and Oisin (U 14 player) and Tristan (Senior Player) on the death of their grandmother. Although a fanatical Fermanagh supporter she was a great friend to St Tiarnachs GFC .We were all devastated for her when her daughter Trudy (aged 13 ) died tragically on a club outing in Killanin Co Galway but she proved an inspiration to all who knew her . Ar dheis de go raibh a hanam.
