Monaghan Primary School 4th class skills competition took place on May 11th in Cloghan. We had over 30 boys participating in the football competition with 14 schools represented. These schools included – Oram, Latton, Annyalla, Lisdoonan, Clara, Deravoy, Clones, Mullaghrafferty, Blayney BNS, Donaghmoyne, Glaslough, Loughmourne, Inniskeen & Urbleshanny. The winner of the skills competition was Luke McKenna (Deravoy NS), 2nd was Conor Meehan (Clara NS) and 3rd was Brion Sherry (Castleblayney BNS). The skills test consisted of a timed obstacle course which covered the pick-up, the hop and solo, the fist-pass, agility, kick-pass, high catch and shooting. They also undertook a shooting test from five different areas. See below photos of the participants and winnners.
On the same day a Hurling Skills comeptition was held for 5th & 6th Class students. We had 17 Hurlers taking part from 9 Schools different Schools from throughout the county. Schools that attended, Gael scoil lorgan, Castleblayney BNS, Donaghmoyne N.S, Urbleshaney N.S, Tydavnet N.S, Oram N.S, Aynnyalla, Deravoy and Mullagharafferty. The winners where; Winner – Stephen Mooney – Annyalla NS – pictured centre 90 points, Second Place – Eoghan Hoey – Mullaghrafferty NS -pictured right 85 points,, Third Place – John treanor NS – Deravoy – pictured left 70 points
