Ulster Senior Football Championship Preliminary Round

Monaghan 1-20 Fermanagh 1-11                                        20/5/17

Monaghan started the Ulster SFC with a nine-point win over Fermanagh in the preliminary round at Clones on Saturday evening. Monaghan were 1-8 to 1-6 up at the end of a competitive first half, but they pulled away with ten unanswered points after the restart. Conor McManus led 13 Monaghan scorers with 1-3, while their bench made an impact in their second-half surge, particularly Owen Duffy, who weighed in with three points from play. Monaghan’s win sees them advance to another local derby away to Cavan in the Ulster quarter-finals on Sunday, June 11.
