Sean McDermotts Club Notes

C.L.G. SEAN MAC DIARMADA

Results:

This week was a mixed bag of results across the board. The U14’s suffered defeat at the hands of Rockcorry on Saturday last. A somewhat one sided affair however our boys had limited numbers with injuries etc. Hopefully they will bounce back from this and get on the winning trail again. Our U16 game against the same opposition on Friday night had to be abandoned owing to a serious incident with a Seans player. Shane Maguire received an injury during the course of the first half when he clashed with another player going for the ball. The extent of his injury was not obvious straight away, however once the mentors got to him they realised he was in difficulties. In the true spirit of the GAA, a supporter from the opposition, made herself available to Shane and assess his condition. Mrs Sharon Fox , from Rockcorry, provided immediate attention to Shane on the field and remained with him until the Paramedics took over. Shane was taken to Cavan General and once given the all clear he was discharged home. He is now in recovery , and although, still very sore he is making a good progress. The Club would like to sincerely thank all those who assisted on the night , but especially Sharon Fox. Her quick reaction to the situation and attention to Shane during what was a very frightening experience for the youngster was immense . Hopefully the game can be replayed and the team can get back to full strength shortly.

Junior Football League.

On Friday evening , Eire Og provided the first opposition of the new season at home. With every game in this League being a derby, Eire Og were up for a tight contest. However, the home team started well and racked up scores very quickly. With Niall Kearns dictating the play from midfield it gave our forwards and backs plenty of options and scoring opportunities. The game was free flowing and although Eire Og were digging deep, the home side were well on top in all areas and eventually run out convincing winners. It is points on the board , but with two fixtures in quick succession against Aghabog and Rockcorry it will be a test of their metal.
