Nicky Rackard Cup Round One

Monaghan 0-16 Tyrone 2-11

Monaghan  were edged out in their Nicky Rackard Cup opening-round derby at Castleblayney last Saturday. With Dónal Meegan in fine form on his way to a tally of ten points, Monaghan were 0-7 to 0-5 up at half-time, but second-half goals by Damien Casey and substitute Seán Óg Grogan and a penalty save by Conor McElhatton proved to be the decisive moments as a Justin Kelly-inspired Tyrone advanced by the narrowest of margins.

Monaghan have received a bye through Round 2B, meaning their next game will be a quarter-final on Saturday week (May 6).
