Seniors: A busy week in the County Monaghan Credit Unions Senior Football League featured games against Scotstown and Clontibret. We hosted Scotstown last Wednesday night, where scores by Liam Hahessy, Fearghal McMahon, Neil McAdam and Dean Fanning had us ahead for much of the first half. Scotstown finished the half strongly to lead by 1-6 to 0-8, however, and they pulled away with an unanswered 1-4 after the restart. Liam, Fearghal and Éimhín Morahan got points back for our lads, but Scotstown stayed clear to win by 2-12 to 0-15.

We then travelled to Clontibret on Saturday. Liam Hahessy and Shane Coyle kicked early points and although we conceded a goal in the 12th minute, scores by Liam, Neil McAdam, Fearghal McMahon and Gary White had us 0-7 to 1-2 up at half-time. We could only manage a brace from Liam in the second half, however, with a goal from a penalty setting Clontibret up to win by 2-8 to 0-9.

John Lowry scored a brace of goals early on, while Ethan Murphy and Conor McCrystal were also on target as the Harps raced ahead. The visitors rallied towards the end of the first half, but 1-1 in quick succession by Ben Kearns-Flynn saw our lads change ends ahead by 3-7 to 1-7. Ethan Murphy found the net after the restart, while some determined defending and a string of points from Conor secured the win. Our minors were away to Castleblayney on Tuesday – check online for result.
