Our opening senior match is in Pairc Eanna on Saturday evening at 6.30 against Monaghan Harps and we look forward to your support. On Wednesday 12th we again are in action and on this occasion our near neighbours Magheracloone Mitchels are the visitors. We welcome the men in black and we look forward to another lively contest. We wish Paul and the boys the best of luck.
Reserves
We held out for a win against a lively Seans who hit a purple patch mid way through the second half but we just about had enough done in the first half to hold on. We now have three wins out of three and we have a five week break.
UNDER 16’S: We got off to a flying start on Thursday last in the first match of the league campaign with a comprehensive win over Sean Mc Dermotts in Killanny on a scoreline of 8-25 to 0-8 respectively. Darren Leegan scored the opening point of the match and this was to be the first of many scores for him, making him the top scorer on the night. There were also a number of lovely scores from Aodhan Mc Connon, David Leegan, Dwyne Markey,Kian Duffy,Ciaran Walsh and Ronan Grimes to name but a few. Both teams worked very hard throughout the whole match and there was a good display of teamwork from our lads which is very encouraging for the season ahead. Well done to all and keep up the good work. The next match is an away fixture to Blayney on Thursday April 6th at 6.45pm.
Cremartin U12’s were the visitors to Pairc Eanna on Saturday afternoon past, despite the heavy rain during the match both teams made light of the conditions and produced an exciting fast game of football.
Killanny were quick to settle and raced into an early lead with scores from Conor Burns and Padraig Corrigan. Playing with the aid of the wind Cremartin soon got a foothold in the game and but for good defending from the Killanny full back line of Odhran McGinnity and Daragh Finnegan along with accurate kickouts from Ronan O’Reilly could well have had more to show for their efforts.
The Killanny midfield partnership of Conor King and Conal Marry worked tirelessly throughout and gave Killanny an advantage in this area. Daniel Breen and Darren Murphy in the half back line were the launch pad for many Killanny attacks while the half foward line of Sean O’Reilly, Oisin Gartlan and Sean Duffy had the Cremartin defence at sixes and sevens throughout. Killian Leegan a new member to the squad can also be happy with his first day out in the red and black and definitely will be one to watch for in the future.
