Doohamlet GFC Notes
Seniors: Doohamlet began their league campaign on Saturday evening last and although fielding without a number of their injured players earned a very creditable draw against Corduff. After a slow start Corduff raced into a three point lead but as the home side settled Niall J. Connolly finished a fine move and crashed to the net leaving the half time score. Doohamlet 1-03 Corduff 0-08
The home side were much more offensive in the second half with Barry McBennett most impressive and led in the third quarter by 2 points. Corduff rallied and both sides strived to gain the upper hand with the clock ticking down. With time almost up Corduff looked to have earned the 2 league points having taken the lead before ace marksman Barry McBennett gained possession to fire over the equalising point in added time. A draw being the fair result 1-08 to 0-11.
Very good performance from rookie corner backs Ryan Ingram and Aidan Marray with Shane McManus Kevin McArdle and Barry McBennett outstanding in the forward line. But Man of the Match must go to veteran keeper James Casey who made a string of outstanding saves. Doohamlet league fixtures continue with an away fixture against Carrick on Wednesday evening before another home game against our neighbours Cremartin on Saturday next.
Race Night: Doohamlet GFC are currently organising our Race Night to be held in Connollys on Saturday 29th April. Please support this fund raiser.
Get Well Wishes: To our young players Barry McGinn and Jamie Walshe who went through operations recently. Both players are a huge loss to our first team and we wish Barry and Jamie well with their rehab.
