Club Lotto:
This week’s Club Lotto draw was held in John Joe Cunningham’s, Carrickmacross on Sunday night last. There was no winner of our Jackpot of €8,900. The numbers drawn were: 08, 10, 18 & 27. The five €20 Lucky Dip winners were Jacqueline Byrne, Peter Gilsenan, Kieran McKenna, Tom Larkin & Alan Carroll.
Our next draw will take place on EASTER MONDAY in MC’s Bar, Shercock, at 9pm, where the Jackpot will be €9,000.

Intermediate Team:
The Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League got underway on Saturday last with a 1-08 to 0-11 draw away to Doohamlet. The team played last night (Wednesday) against Toome in the first home game of the year. See Social Media or next week’s club notes for the result from that game.
The team finish out the week with a game against our parish neighbours, Carrickmacross, on Saturday (15th) evening at 7:00pm in Páirc Ghaelach, Corduff.
Reserve Team:
The next Reserve match in on Wednesday 10th May against Oram in Corduff, with a 7:45pm throw-in.
Minor Team:
The Minor team played Aughnamullen on Tuesday evening in Round 3 of the Connolly Meats Minor Football League Division 1, and were unfortunately beaten on a scoreline of 1-08 to 0-07.
On Tuesday next (18th), they make the journey to Páirc Eanna, Killanny to take on the hosts. Throw-in is at 7:00pm.
Inter-County Teams:
Monaghan’s inter-county hurlers suffered a heavy defeat in the Ulster Senior Shield semi-final against Derry on Saturday last. The Nicky Rackard Cup gets underway on Saturday 22nd April with the first game against Tyrone.
The Minor footballers make the trip to Owenbeg, Derry to take on the hosts in the Ulster Minor Football League semi-final on Saturday morning with throw-in at 12:00pm. Best wishes to Sean Burns & Fionn O’Callaghan who are members of the team. Meanwhile, the Under 17 side play Antrim in Clones at 1:30pm on Saturday in the Shield semi-final.
Health and Wellbeing:
Monaghan GAA actively promotes the health and wellbeing of its members and here in Corduff we value the health of our members and recognise the role the club can play in providing opportunities to do so. We are lucky to have such wonderful facilities in Corduff and we invite people to use these facilities to increase physical activity levels. Now that the long evenings are here it’s great to see the walking track being used by so many people and we encourage more people to do so.
Committee Meeting:
We hope to have a Committee Meeting within the next fortnight. A text will be sent out to Committee Members when details are finalised.

Ladies
Under 14’s:
The U14’s played their first home game of the season on Monday when they hosted Monaghan Harps. They got off to a positive opening with an early goal and a point holding the Monaghan side scoreless for the first quarter. However by midway through the half the visitors were level with Corduff and continued to build on their lead until the interval. Corduff regrouped at the interval and launched a comeback but Harps added to their tally and were victorious by the final whistle. The Corduff girls and management deserve credit for their massive effort throughout. The team was as follows: Kerry Anne Walsh, Holly Higgins, Abbie McGivney, Abbie Finegan, Emily Hegarty, Georgia Smyth, Katie Walsh, Kayla Hand, Fiona Connolly, Tracy Hill, Rheanne McGarrell with subs Ellen Connolly, Niamh McCahey, Rebecca McGivney and Amy Corrigan.
Fixtures:
This Friday evening at 8pm Corduff Ladies open their season with the first competitive match of 2017 by welcoming Magheracloone. This is the first league match for the side so we wish both management and players good luck. On Monday the Under 16’s are away to Tyholland in the league so good luck to all involved.
County Scene:
Congratulations to Laura McEnaney, Eva Woods and the Monaghan Senior team and management on their win over Armagh on Sunday. This win secures Division 1 status for Monaghan for their 26th consecutive season and we wish them good luck with their Ulster Championship preparations.
Registration:
Annual Registration is now due and should be paid immediately. Rates are as follows U18’s are €35 while over 18’s are €50. If you’re not registered you’re not insured. Training fees are also due as follows €20 per member and €30 per family. Both can be paid to any committee member.
Juveniles
Under 6, 8, 10:
Training as usual on Saturday mornings in the field from 10am to 11:15am.
Under 12:
The Spring League Round 2 fixture against Latton was postponed. The round 3 fixture away to Aughnamullen will be played on Saturday, April 15th. Throw in at Aughnamullen is 2pm.
Under 14:
Our U14s took on Aughnamullen in Round 3 of the league on Saturday last. Both teams were very well supported on a fine afternoon for football, and he crowd was treated to a fantastic game. An even first half was fiercely contested and Corduff scored 2 late goals to give them a 7 point cushion at the break with the score 5-7 to 4-3. Corduff started the second half brightly, extending their lead to 10 points, however, Aughnamullen responded well, reducing the margin to 6 points before the final whistle ended the comeback. The final score was: Corduff (10-9) v (7-12) Aughnamullen.
Corduff have a bye in the next round and will not see competitive action again until May 6th when they take on Ballybay.
Handball
All-Ireland Competition:
Commiserations to James Gavaghan & Michael Duffy Jnr who lost out in a close battle to their opponents from Limerick in the All-Ireland Junior Doubles semi-final on Sunday last.
